This beauty is a vintage 1991 promotional sweatshirt for a dual art piece that was installed in both California and Japan. The installation was made up of yellow umbrellas erected in California and blue umbrellas in Japan, by artists Christo and Jean-Claude. The project consisted of 3,100 umbrellas total, and attracted about 3 million people while it stood from October 9, 1991 to October 27, 1991.
The overall condition of this sweatshirt is very good, the fabric and tag is crisp and does not appear to have been washed, therefore it is likely the shirt was never worn, but this is just a guess. There are some very small spots on the front which I tried to capture in the last 4 photos. Some of the spots look like they are from the manufacturing process as it loos like paint specs in the same colors as in the screen printed image, then there is a dark spot on the bottom waist band that looks like it could maybe be pen ink. I cannot guarantee any of these spots will wash out, but I will say they are not very noticeable, and it certainly does not render the shirt unwearable. This sweatshirt is marked as an XL, but please refer to the exact measurements below before buying. All measurements taken while the shirt was laying flat on a table.
